Once Upon A Time

You will never meet anyone who is further from The Aisle than me - but a new Disney version of Bridalwear was featured on my beloved Jezebel, attracting a lot of criticism for its Prince Charming message and designs. It also has some bridesmaid and young bridesmaid dresses, but i'm going to focus on the most expensive dress you will ever own - knowing my thriftiness this may still be cheap if I ever get hitched.

However, I am going to betray the sisterhood - I actually like quite a few of the designs:

Snow White: I think these are really pretty - especially the first one

Sleeping Beauty: Very demure, I love the second one. Third one is a little maternity.

Jasmine: Not so cute, I really don't like the third one.

Cinderella: Lets ignore the souffle that is the second dress - isn't the first one pretty? Makes for a teeny waist.

Belle: My favourite 'princess'. I don't know where the Ariel fishtail has come from but I LOVE the first one and I like the bow detail on the second one.

Ariel: I don't like any of these AT ALL. I hate the first one, the fishtail and the older-lady sleeve thing.

What do you think - do they make for a Happy Ever After?

Fashion Epiphany!

I've just had a fashion Epiphany!

Despite my lamenting tones on my conventional sense of style, I have just realised that I do have style confidence and a sense of adventure: in my casual/sleepwear! This may sound strange so I took some photos to illustrate this point.
I am wearing my usual uniform. This is what I wear during my glamorous activities of reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond, daily blog reading and Adrian Mole. I have on my Spanish cartoon pj bottoms, they are incredibly comfy, my yellow with pink flowers jersey top with my black hooded top with newly-sewn-on lace on the pockets. All baggy, all comfy. An alternative to this is my cherry-red velour 'apartment pants' and my collection of plaid shirts which rallies hilarious southern jokes from my brother, 'Make ya sqeal like a pigggieeee' (Old Rugrats inside joke...)

May someday I will be able to translate this into 'outside clothes' because at the moment the only person appreciating this is my giggling-at-it family and the Barone clan.

Le Weekend

Hi!
Did you have a good Easter? I completely broke my diet because my Mum got me a Ripple Easter Egg and Mini-Eggs. I'm not into organised religion so I followed my church - watching the gorgeous musical Easter Parade and old re-runs of Top Gear on Dave. I've also been watching the figure skating lately, I LOVE skating and even though the skaters I like didn't win its still fun. Sinead and John Kerr, the British pair were really good.

But - my favourites - who should have won were the Canadians, you HAVE to watch it!

So, here is a pictorial summary of my weekend:

It snowed! For only two minutes, but it was pretty whilst it lasted!

Skating!

A lot o' Nando's.
Diet-breakin' mini-eggs.

Reading fanfiction, and fangirl squealing when my story request was posted.

Journey to the Past

I watched my beloved Anastasia yesterday. I am well aware that at 20yrs old I should be watching Oscar winners like Syriana but I just want a cute romance with singing. I will only watch a movie if it involves: A love story/makeover/prom/geek/singing/dancing. I think Anastasia has it all, the songs are amazing - don't tell me you don't sing Journey to the Past really loud, especially the end, 'and bring me home, at LASSSTTTTT'.

All the characters are cute, the story is nice and I love anything Russian. Dimitri, albeit a fictional animation is hot and the clothes are wonderful. I decided to search the Internet to see if there is anything similar:

I have just been looking for over 40 minutes for a photo of the gorgeous blue ballgown she wears and I can't find one! However, I found some costumes!

And my personal favourite:
God. I should be watching more age-appropriate movies.

Jekyll and Jagger

When it comes to essays and revision - I think I have a split personality. Really. I am Geekish, I listen in all my classes, take constant notes and attend all lectures/seminars. I always want to get an A and I take it really hard if I don't. Yet, I always end up doing my essays quite late because I sit about watching TV and reading, I recently sat doing a More magazine crossword in my last Modernism class and I fully intend to put off revision till a week before. Is anyone else like this?

I just saw the ultra-cute new M&S Ad so I thought instead of moaning on about how I'm not confident enough to wear what I want I would look at their new young summer looks, the Lizzie Jagger ones:

Cute huh?

I know more than another, what makes your heart beat so

Yesterday was a great day, I met up with my best friends and we got stuck in traffic for over an hour and a half trying to get to Park Royal, we then discovered a three hour wait for bowling so we just had Nando's and came back to mine to watch crappy old movies.

In honour of St Patrick's Day I have chosen an Irish poet for my post title (Yeats) and have looked for cute green finds:EbayASOS, £22.
ASOS.com, £35.

Being Frank

I wish you could see me, I am quite removed from my morning wallowing. I am sitting on my bed, as usual, with my pillows wedged so I can sit upright to type. My window is open, I never close it really, and rain is coming through. Amy Winehouse's Frank is playing loudly to my right and my room is all cosy because I have stuck my little lamp on. I'm waiting for an old re-run of Have I Got News For You to come on. This is what makes me happy.

Someone send me this article earlier, knowing it would annoy me, they were correct.
Its from IVillage, a male columnist is citing the results of a survey, 'confessing the 10 most annoying things women do'. What are our crimes?

10. Pretending to be virtuous
9. Criticize other women
8. Act jealous
7. Become needy
6. Speak in code
5. Invade our personal space
4. Become too emotional
3.
Shop till they drop
2. Talk incessantly
1. Use sex as a weapon

The reasons for these 10 complaints are incredibly lame, it ranges from 'you cry if you break a nail' to 'Women have this instinctive tic that makes them want to groom us anytime they want and make our personal belongings theirs'. God. I am so happy to be now aware of my faults. I shouldn't communicate, shop, show emotion, be honest or be myself in any fashion. This must explain the recent boom in blow up sex dolls.

I will leave you to read for yourself his sexist and at best condescending tone.

Moaning Myrtle

Just got back two of my courseworks, and I'm not very happy so I am going to be updating after I get over it.

What are we scared of?

Although I like to think of this as a fashiony blog, and I read so many others every day; I always feel embarrassed at the idea of someone in my classes knowing this and looking at my outfit in disbelief. My fellow students are so casual, which I think has effected me. Its uggs, casual trousers/jeans, hooded tops, tshirts. I usually wear jeans with some kind of long-sleeved tshirt layered over something. I like wearing cardigans too, sometimes dresses. If someone wears something 'on trend' or in a bright colour they really stand-out in my classes. Sometimes I think my lecture clothes reflect my commuter status, I have to travel into classes so I don't want to look bizarre.

I think my current poor excuse for style is a result of my god-awful self confidence. There is a girl in my classes who wears really cute clothes, that are 'riskier' than other peoples and I always love and envy her clothes. She shows it can be done! My classes are all done for the year - I know! - but maybe in September I will find some confidence and start dressing in exactly what I want to wear.

Relationship Endgame

Hey

Sorry I haven't been updating, I've still been reading lots of other fashiony blogs every day but I couldn't think of anything to post. I'm in a funny mood today and I don't know why, I feel anxious but I'm not sure why. Yesterday was my last Modernism class, which is a shame because I really grew to like the topic, and doing Endgame yesterday confirmed it. Tomorrow I have my last class of the term, Feminism. Our terms are really short, we started earlier too, and whilst most of my Uni pals are breaking up for Easter - I'm done! Very strange, although I have my exams in May. I'm glad this isn't some kind of video blog, my room is incredibly messy; My bed is unmade and I am perched between my blanket and my duvet, my dresser is covered in hairspray and perfume bottles, my desk is full of bowls and glasses with sweet wrappers everywhere and my chair of full of laundry. I KNOW this and yet I still watched the new Skins and re-runs of What Not to Wear. My best pal sent me a card today which made me very happy. I still don't think I am entirely used to not seeing my friends every day like in 6th form.

Oooh, before I forget, if you want something great to listen to try The Brunettes. Their songs are so cute and catchy.

I just read my favourite blog, Jezebel.com and saw this; A recent poll of 66,000 men in the UK has found that the ideal woman is 133 pounds, has blue eyes, long blond hair and doesn't earn too much. In fact, UKDating.com says that 54% of males would not date anyone who earns more than £25,000 a year. Yet in America, a survey found that only 12% of US men would not date someone who earned more then them. I am not blonde, I'm sure i'm not 133 pounds and I fully intend to move to America after reading this article.

Hula, Hula

I cannot believe this week is over already, its gone so fast. I only have one more week of classes, then I am off until May exams, although I have coursework due before then. My room is very cosy, Law of the Playground is on and I am eating my sour strawberry laces. Join me?

Look at what I brought today, ITS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER PURCHASED.

Look! The photo is not me, btw, I still have to find a photo. It's a photo frame with a effect so that the image it moves and shimmies. AND, when I press the button it make hulu music play and starts the effect so she 'dances'!

I know. I KNOW. I am so lucky. I love anything tacky.

I also got a card for my friends parents, its their party tomorrow. I still don't know what to wear. I got Glamour, with a free bag that's quite cute. Lily Allen is unnecessarily photoshopped to death on the cover though. I also got a hotpink folder.

This photo is messier than I thought! Its my new pink vase, cute huh? that sort of matches my wallpaper and my two containers of sour laces. Yum.

Have a fun weekend! - Oooh and any advice about the party outfit?

Digital Love

I am happy again, see what having no coursework does to me? Daft Punk's supercute Digital Love is playing and I am a minute away from doing a dorky dance on my bed - A la Kirsten Dunst in Bring it On.

So, this has been my day:

Is there anyone who doesn't just empty their bag onto their bed, all messily? I can't image picking things out and placing them neatly in their place.

My view from my window, telling me there is more to life than a pound of metaphorical flesh.

My It-doesn't-mention-bloody-Shylock reading.

My Coursework Celebration Cake.

How has your day been?

Hello, Sailor!

I am doing a little conga line of happiness. My essay is done, and glowering at me on the end of my bed. I have had a horrible afternoon, so I am celebrating with Starburst sweets and the show Gavin & Stacey. I've got a feminism class tomorrow that I am completely unprepared for, I think its on Lesbian Feminism but I'm not sure. Well, knowing my love for all things nautical a friend told me to look at ASOS's new Retro Resort collection.

I am in LOVE:
And to finish: HELLO sailor!

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

I will be updating soon.

I don't feel very well and I have a coursework due on Thursday so I am not happy.

However, today on my bus I saw a baby that looked like a mini Mark Ronson. So, that was nice.

Sunday

Hi!
I thought I would give another - fascinating - look into my life. In particular, my Sunday. Today I have been celebrating Mothers Day, Watching my guiltily pleasure on YouTube, so hideous I cannot tell you. I am Attempting to write my essay which I should have started ages ago and eating my weight in sweets.

I post this photo with a look of horror and recognition. I have barely read/looked at any of these books. Please note the sweet wrappers and the remote control - clearly signalling where my priorities lie.

My only Love sprung from my only Hate...
My gorgeous baby Laptop and the hideous mess of work behind it; and a weird Sky leaflet actually. Why is that there!?

Now this is my kind of mess, its pretty-mess. My gorgeous distractions for Shylock: More Magazine, The Book Thief, Flowers, Sweets, Diet Coke, IPod and the little feet of my David Tennant doll right at the top. See him? He says Hello. Actually, if he could talk he would probably fervently murmur 'Just kill me...kill me now'.

Pathetic? To die for love? How can you say so? What could be more glorious?

I am glad you cannot see me right now. I am almost squealing with fangirl excitement. I'm watching Sense and Sensibility on channel 4, even though i have seen it a million times and i even have it on video. I'm also my dead scruffy self, wearing my pinkish slouchy sweatpants and my hotpink shirt. I have been waiting for over 2 and a half hours for this bit of the movie, where Elinor realises Edward is not married and loves her. God, i could watch it over and over. I LOVE the sob, its so realistic and heartfelt, the emotion just comes out. I adore Marianne too, especially her love for poetry. Just like in Emma, where she tells Mr Knightly that she loves him, 'if I have not spoken, it is because I am afraid I will awaken myself from this dream'. Oooh, Hugh Grant just said it, 'my heart will always be yours'. Lovely. Now its the wedding. Has Kate Winslet ever looked as beautiful? She even quotes my favourite sonnet earlier in the movie.

Anyway. Tomorrow is Mothers Day, but my Mum is ill so we won't be going out for lunch and will probably just watch a movie and order in, or something. My brother is terrible at holidays, i had to drag him round the shops making him buy gifts that i picked out then i had to wrap the gifts yesterday.
